Fit 4 AI Luxembourg has expanded. Rules published in October 2026 open the programme to companies of all sizes, raise the maximum support rate to 70% and cap the grant at €100,000 per project. Luxinnovation now prepares and files the aid application through MyGuichet.lu on behalf of the company.
The purpose remains unchanged: fund a structured assessment before investing in artificial intelligence. A referenced consultant reviews use cases, data, feasibility, costs, benefits, risks and governance requirements, then delivers prioritised recommendations and a costed action plan.
Four Fit 4 AI changes to know
- Broader access for eligible small, medium-sized and large companies.
- Maximum support rates of 70% for small, 60% for medium-sized and 50% for large companies.
- A grant amount above €1,000 and no higher than €100,000 per project.
- A simplified process in which Luxinnovation pre-checks and files the application.
These are maximum rates applied to eligible fees charged by a referenced consultant. The Ministry of the Economy remains responsible for the final award and amount.
What can Fit 4 AI fund?
For €20,000 of eligible consultancy fees excluding VAT, the maximum support would be €14,000 for a small company, €12,000 for a medium-sized company and €10,000 for a large company. This is an illustration, not a funding promise. Travel and ancillary expenses are not eligible.
Fit 4 AI funds the assessment and roadmap, not the implementation of the recommended solution. The work can cover digital and data maturity, use-case selection, technical feasibility, costs, expected return, risks, GDPR and AI Act considerations, governance and the resources required for implementation.
Who is eligible?
The company must have its registered office in Luxembourg, conduct an economic activity as its main occupation and hold a valid business permit issued by the Ministry of the Economy. Company size determines the maximum support rate, but every application is still subject to an eligibility review.
The application process
- Contact Luxinnovation before making any legally binding commitment.
- Define the scope, deliverables, timetable and budget with a referenced consultant.
- Provide the unsigned quote, legal organisation chart, declaration and power of attorney.
- Luxinnovation pre-checks the file and submits it through MyGuichet.lu.
- Sign the quote and start only after receiving the digital filing receipt.
- Complete the assessment within six months, pay the consultant and request payment of the grant.
Guichet.lu states that the Ministry may take up to two months to decide after receiving a complete application. The payment request then requires the consultant invoices, proof of payment and final report.
The main eligibility mistake to avoid
Do not sign the consultancy quote, pay a deposit or authorise work before the aid application is filed. The application must precede any legally binding commitment. The scope and budget can be prepared in detail, but the assignment must not start early.
How to prepare a useful first discussion
- Select two or three specific processes rather than a general AI ambition.
- Gather their volumes, lead times, costs, errors and owners.
- Identify the systems and data involved and who controls access.
- List confidentiality, compliance and human-approval constraints.
- Define the decision the roadmap must support.
